Job #: 077980
Location Syracuse, NY
Pay Range: $70,000 - $90,000
Hours: As determined by Department Chair
Job Type: Full-time

Job Description:
We seek a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in the Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences to support the APA-accredited School Psychology doctoral program. The School Psychology Program is strongly committed to promoting diversity and prepares graduate students to be sensitive to issues of inclusion and diversity in all aspects of their work. Candidates, including members of underrepresented groups, who can contribute to this training are strongly encouraged to apply.
The Department houses the largest undergraduate program in the College of Arts and Sciences, with over 1,000 majors. We also train over 60 graduate students across our four doctoral programs: APA-accredited programs in Clinical and School Psychology and programs in Social and Cognitive psychology. Clinical training is supported by our new psychological services center, and our purpose-built labs, designed in collaboration with architects for each program, will open in Spring 2025. More information about the department may be found at

Qualifications:
Ph.D. in School Psychology preferred but a PhD in other relevant fields will be considered.

Job Specific Qualifications:
Successful candidates will have a program of research with the potential to attract extramural funding. While all areas of school psychology will be considered, the department is especially interested in applicants whose scholarship is focused developing effective strategies to support the mental health and well-being of children and adolescents in school settings, including school-based mental health (e.g., comprehensive mental health programs, school-community partnerships) and prevention science (e.g., early identification and intervention, implementation science).

Responsibilities:
Candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate courses related to developmental or school psychology and graduate courses focusing, for example, consultation, developmental psychopathology, individual differences, cognitive and affective bases of behavior, or psychological tests and measurement. Candidates may also teach courses in their area of expertise at either level. In addition, preference will be given to candidates who are licensed (or license-eligible) and will be expected to mentor undergraduate and doctoral students in research, provide supervision of clinical training, and engage in department, college, and university-level service activities.
