Trinity University seeks applications for a full-time, Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Communication and Theatre, beginning in August of 2025. This is a scholar/artist position that requires a commitment to teaching theatre/performance history and directing for our mainstage season in an undergraduate liberal arts and sciences context. With primary teaching responsibilities in theatre/performance history, and an active research agenda in theatre studies and/or performance studies, a successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of teaching expertise, a passion for mentoring undergraduate students, and an active research plan. Faculty are expected to contribute to teaching the First-Year Experience and other courses in Pathways, the University's interdisciplinary general education program. There are many opportunities for Trinity faculty to be engaged in experiential learning, interdisciplinary teaching and research, and faculty-led study abroad programs.BACKGROUND

The Department of Human Communication and Theatre offers two relatively independent majors and minors. The Theatre Program offers a BA education that integrates theory and practice. Our annual Stieren Guest Artist program and student-faculty research create opportunities to collaborate meaningfully with diverse theatre professionals.

This is a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Theatre position beginning August 2025. The salary will be competitive.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Required: PhD or DFA in Theatre, Drama, or Performance Studies with degree in hand or plan to complete program's PhD or DFA degree requirements by August 2025.

Preferred: Candidates should have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence, a passion for mentoring undergraduates, and an active research agenda.
