Job Description:

Under faculty supervision assist in monitoring education labs with distribution and security of equipment and facilities, record keeping, and helping students with orientation and pre-testing.

Required Qualification:

  • Must have recent documented work experience in the Automotive and/or Heavy Duty Truck Technology field. 
  • Must possess excellent communication and people skills. Ability to use electronic repair information systems is also required. 
  • Must have and maintain standard Driver's License and have the ability to obtain and maintain forklift driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with engines, brakes, transmissions, drivelines, suspensions, air-conditioning, electrical, fuel, ignition and emission systems is preferred. CDL or other commercial driver's licenses are preferred.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assist Transportation Technology instructors in the supervision of laboratory instruction.

· Provide oversight and opportunity for students to practice skills and give assistance to students to improve performance to enhance student learning and productivity.

· Ensure compliance with and maintain safety measures in all district lab spaces.

· Follow correct incident follow-up procedures.

· Responsible for the maintenance of equipment and supplies in transportation labs district wide.

· Assist instructors in curriculum revisions as it pertains to the lab experience.

· Assist in identification of program needs as it relates to equipment, materials and supplies.

· Meet promptly with classes as requested by instructors.

· Maintain accurate classroom records as requested by instructors.

· Keep inventory of parts needed to complete laboratory experiments and be responsible for ordering, obtaining, and receiving parts.

· Ensure cleanliness and organization of laboratory spaces in the transportation department district wide.

· Provide demonstration/tours for prospective students and special interest groups as needed and attend all advisory council meetings.

· Make copies of handouts and tests, distributing them as requested.

· Keep instructors informed of potential areas of concern in regards to program success.

· Work in tandem with faculty to ensure student success.

· Be committed to providing quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of internal and external partners.

· Ensure all required trainings, documentation, and records are up to date and completed on time.

· Other Duties as assigned.
