Position Summary

The Bailey Groundwater Resources Lab () in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Colorado State University (CSU) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the field of water quality modeling in hydrologic systems. The postdoctoral scholar will work on multiple projects, funded by the USDA-ARS, USDA-NIFA, and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) for simulating the fate and transport of salinity, selenium, and phosphorus in watersheds of varying types and regions within Colorado and the United States. The post-doc will have opportunities to collaborate with graduate students in the Groundwater Resources Lab and research groups at the USDA-ARS. The post-doc will also have opportunities to present at national conferences and publish project results in appropriate journals. The successful candidate will have experience in hydrologic modeling (both watershed modeling and groundwater modeling), water quality modeling, Python programming, Fortran programming, and publishing high-impact journal articles. We are seeking an independent researcher with strong communication skills and ability to work in a highly collaborative interdisciplinary team.



Required Job Qualifications

  • The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Hydrologic Sciences, or related field.
  • The candidate must have experience with the hydrologic model SWAT (or SWAT+) and the groundwater flow model MODFLOW.
  • The candidate must have extensive experience in Python programming.
  • The candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills and have published in respectable water resources journals.


Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Experience with preparing Python scripts for model pre- and post-processing.
  • Experience with linking (and/or coupling) surface and subsurface hydrologic models.
